Research
(1) Development of real ion plating system based on cathodic vacuum arc plasma with T-shape magnetic filter, and syntheses of thin solid films (e.g., Diamond-Like Carbon; DLC)
(2) Development of atmospheric pressure plasmas based on pulsed gliding arc and barrier discharge, and their applications (e.g., surface treatment)
(3) Syntheses of nano-carbon materials: Carbon nanotube, nanohorn, and nanoballoon by arc discharge method. Carbon nanocoil, nanotwist, nanofiber, and nanotube by catalytic CVD method.
(4) Development of direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) and Electric Double Layer Capacitor (EDLC) using nanocarbons
