The heterogeneous catalyst in the petrochemical industry has promised to enhance quality of life. This is still believed and effoets have been continued to develop new catalysts on the environmentally benign technology and the energy -conservation technology.
The aim of studi is to develop the novel and optimum heterogeneous catalyst system from the aspect of solid acidity, especially in the petrochemical field.
Targets of catalytic reactions are as follows:
1) chemical recycling of waste plastics
2) production of chemical sources from paraffin as fuels.
The catalysts containing silica and alumina as major compounds are characterized by spectroscopic techniques to understand rolees of active sites during reactions.
Keywords: preparation of functional catalysts containing Si and Al such as zeolites, solid acidity, shape selectivity, oxidation, dehydrogenation, cracking.
Theme1:Study on fundamental aspects of active sites of the catalyst for petrochemical industry and its catalysis
Overview
We have carried out the cracking and reforming of hydrocarbons, which is familiar reactions in petrochemical industries, as the model reaction using the porous inorganic powder, silica-aluminas and zeolites, as an solid acid catalyst and the following goal has been aimed: 1) the elucidation of important factors on the design of novel catalysts, 2) the evaluation of the properties for the active sites on catalysts, 3) the evaluation of the reaction properties, 4) the evaluation of the effect imparted the properties for active sites to the reaction properties.
The following reactions by acid catalysts are also in progress.
(1) Chemical recycling of waste plastics(Recovery as the chemical raw materials and fuels)
(2) Selective aromatization of paraffins
Keywords
Theme2:Development of the new environmentally benign solid catalyst by the novel preparation and their catalytic behavior
Overview
From the viewpoint of global environmental protection and solving the recycling problems, we have attempted to prepare novel solid catalysts by the various preparation methods (sol-gel method, fume pyrolysis, hydrothermal synthesis, etc.). We have carried out both the characterization and the evaluation of catalysis through the model reaction, and then we believe that the results will contribute to the environmental solution. The detailed subjects are as follows:
(1) Oxidative and simple dehydrogenation of alkane as model of catalytic reaction with the production of styrene as raw material of expanded polystyrene and chemicals.
(2) Photocatalysis in the production of hydrogen for clean energy in alcohol-water system as the catalytic reaction model.
